We’re all so busy nowadays! Whether it’s because of family obligations or professional ones, we don’t always have the time to do everything necessary.
When you found your German Shepherd puppy, you didn’t realize that you may not have the time to walk him. Perhaps you feel guilty leaving him home alone for hours. No judgment and we understand everyone’s home lives are different. So, if you’ve decided it’s best to take your pup to a doggy daycare during the day, we have some tips to get your both ready. We also applaud your efforts to keep your pup mentally and physically stimulated throughout the day! Below, we invite you to learn more about how to make this a smooth transition for both of you! 
Speak Up
Upon arriving at the daycare, make sure that you talk to the daycare providers and communicate effectively with them. Especially in the beginning, you want to carve some time in the morning to be able to talk briefly with them to let them know anything that may be going on with your precious pup. For instance, was your pup scared or happy to come into the daycare? Has the home environment changed any at all that may affect your pup? Stuff like that is helpful to share about the German Shepherd puppy.
Sit, Stay, Sit
The daycare is an exciting place for your pup and as time goes on, you’ll see an increase in her excitement as you arrive. This is because it’s like going to school! Pups truly have fun and look forward to playing with each other. With all of the excitement, however, this can drive them to ignore their commands! Don’t allow this to happen to your pup. Reinforce the “sit” and “stay” commands consistently at home and utilize them at the daycare before you allow your pup to exit the car. Hammer this down so that your dog knows that it’s okay to be excited but they must always follow your “sit” and “stay” commands and THEN go play!
Chill Out
We know that you’re equally excited to see your pup once you’ve gotten off work, however arriving with too much energy can send the wrong signal to your puppy. It could cause them to jump, bark, whine or yank on the leash from excitement. Instead, calmly greet your pup and do not match their excitement. Chill out, be cool, and ration out the love…until you get home!
