They are said to be the product of mating different coonhounds together. This breed was originally called the English coonhound but this name was subsequently changed in 1946. This breed was finally accepted into the American kennel club in 2009. ### Temperament Bluetick coonhound is first and foremost a hunter. They have a remarkable prey drive and at all times would want to follow a trail.
